Every year we rank the best betting strategies by profit, yield, drawdown, big data and Betaminic rating. Here we can see the long-term winning strategies and also see some new strategy ideas that have been successful. In this article we will highlight the top performing strategies and show how they can work together in a multi-strategy betting system. With big data from the Betamin Builder tool, we can easily see what worked historically and follow those strategies for the best chance of success in the future.

What is Betaminic and its Betamin Builder Tool?

The Betaminic website provides a tool called the “Betamin Builder” that has a database of over 12 years of football statistics and matching bookmaker odds covering 111 leagues around the world. This means that you can backtest betting strategy ideas very easily with real historical bookmaker odds. So if you can find a betting strategy that has worked long term historically, then you can reasonably expect that such a betting strategy has more chance of making profit than a betting system that has not been independently backtested yourself (like many paid tipsters and other betting systems for sale out there).

What are the Public Strategies?

Betaminic has been running since 2017 and many users share their strategies on the “public strategies” page inside the Betamin Builder. It is free to sign up and look at those strategies. In the beginning, it is probably easier to just follow the most successful publicly shared strategies. And then you can start to create your own private strategies later on if you get inspired to do so. The strategies can be ranked in many ways, such as by profit and loss, yield, drawdown and other factors. We also have our own “Betaminic rating” that we use to make it easier to see which strategies are performing the best. The Betaminic rating is the default order that the public strategies are listed in. So the easiest way to start is to click on the “follow” button for a few of the top ranking strategies that you like the look of. In this article, we rank those public strategies and explain them in a bit more detail so you can see which strategies are performing the best right now.

General Ranking Rules

We have only included strategies that:

• Have a yield of 3% or more in their “Since shared” data set.
• Have more than 100 bets in their “Since shared” data set

There are more than 500 publicly shared strategies at the moment. In order to make the rankings more meaningful we have excluded strategies that have a yield of less than 3% in their “Since shared” period of data. Why is the “Since shared” period important? The “Since shared” period has the results of the strategy since it was shared publicly. This means that the strategy has not been edited or changed since that point. We can see very clearly what results would have been achieved if the betting strategy rules that were set had been followed. When researching strategies, it is important to avoid data mining (selecting only good results from the data) and to find real trends and patterns in the historical data. A very simple way is to confirm this is to look at the “Since shared” results to see if the positive trend is continuing. We also exclude strategies with less than 100 bets in their “Since shared” results data set. This is because we feel that less than 100 bets is not enough to say with confidence whether a strategy is continuing the trend that was researched. With these 2 filters, we then ranked the remaining 90 strategies that meet these requirements. This does however mean that a number of new or updated versions of old strategies have not yet reached enough bets to be included in these rankings, but it does not mean that those new or updated strategies are bad strategies.

Contend UD was No1 in 2022 & 2023 and is still Number 1 in 2024 for profit. It has continued its trend and has added +37 points to its total profit in 2024. (2023’s increase was +43, so there is a level of consistency there.) Its maximum drawdown was -28.04 in December 2022, -33.24 in Dec 2023 and is now -37.96.  Despite that increase in MDD, its yield stayed steady at 9.79% (2023 9.77%, 2022 9.09%). Despite having a poor first half to 2024, this is one of the best performing public strategies. There are several variations of the core filters of this strategy and the against the trend idea behind this strategy keeps finding value picks. The low win rate of 36% can be a bit tough to follow for some, but the results make it a strategy to be considered very seriously. In its Since Shared history we can see it had a terrible run with 8 out of 9 months losing from December 2023 to July 2024, but then went on a 5 month consecutive winning run. This really highlights the fact that you have to plan to follow strategies for a long period such as 1 year to really give it a chance to express its trend. With 27 picks per month on average, even 10 months is only 270 bets, which is not really enough to judge a strategy and we can still be affected by short term variance. Choosing good strategies based on solid data and then following them long term for a pre-planned period is key to success in this kind of value betting.

This home win strategy was shared in May 2020 based on 8 years of research data and has then been running for over four and a half years. You can login to the Betamin Builder to see the exact strategy filters. This strategy’s basic core idea is to back home teams that have not won in the medium term form for a while at home. This is an against the trend strategy. It goes against the crowd. It does not bet on the obvious choice looking at the recent form. But as suggested in this article by one of our users who is an ex-sportsbook employee, the public market often pushes down the odds of the obvious choices that follow the trend, meaning the unpopular bets rise in value above their fair odds. This s where we can capitalize on the opportunity and get value odds. This method has led to a stunning 9.79% yield after 1,662 bets. That is a very significant amount of bet data to get confidence from. It is over the 1,000 bet mark. Its maximum drawdown is only -37.96 points across all its All Results history of 3,767 bets since March 2012. It has a 36% win rate and average odds of 3.55 which means it needs discipline to follow since more than 50% of bets will be losers. You really have to understand the meaning of value betting to be able to follow this strategy. Despite a win rate of 36%, the odds being offered on these matches are equivalent to a win rate lower than 36%, so the longer we keep betting on this trend, the more chance we will get results similar to the long-term trend of +9.79% ROI. If we look at the monthly P/L we can see there are winning and losing months, sometimes 4 months of flat results and then a few big profit months. This really shows the need for discipline with value betting. You need to make a plan to follow this strategy long term. If you follow it for 25 bets (1 month), it is pure luck if you will make a profit or not. If you follow it for 100 bets (4 months), you have much more chance of getting results nearer to the trend, and if you follow it for 1,000 bets (37 months), you will have the best possible chance of getting the same results as this strategy has if the trend continues. Rather than thinking of time in terms of how many months you need to follow this strategy, it is better to think of time in terms of number of bets. You need to follow this strategy for over 500 bets (18 months) to reasonably expect to achieve similar trend line results. This strategy has been running since 2020 and has been high on the ratings table many times. It truly is a worthy profit champion for 2023 and 2024. We highly recommend adding this to your set of strategies for 2025.

 Vitória do mandante com dos alta is 2^nd again as it was last year. It is a variation of the core filters of 1^st place Contend UD, but the filters are different enough for it to count as a separate strategy. This user has reduced the odds range being covered and also changed the leagues being selected from the 111-league database. In this way, duplicating and changing the filters of existing public strategies is a good way to get used to the Betamin Builder and also sometimes find improved versions of existing strategies. This edited version has a slightly lower yield of +8.61% with a lower drawdown of -33. It made +14 units of profit in 2024 compared to Contend UD’s +37 units profit. It did not have the long losing run at the start of 2024 that Contend UD had though. This strategy and Contend UD are different enough to both be followed. For value betting, it is important to follow a trend for 500-1,000 bets to give it the best chance to reproduce its trend. When you make a plan to follow a strategy, plan to follow it for a number of bets, not a time period.

 Not home on. This home team backing strategy was shared in August 2020 and has been running for over four and a half years. It was 10^th in profit rankings last year and has moved to 3^rd this year making +8.75 units in 2024. It has made +93 points profit since August 2020 after 2,111 bets with a 4.45% yield. It basically backs underdogs at home with poor recent form when they play an away team that isn’t a super strong favourite in terms of long term away form. This ends up with betting on higher than normal home odds and can have longer losing runs as a result of natural variance. Its low 28% win rate gives it a lower hit rate than draw betting. This strategy produces an average of 36 bets per month which is an easy amount to manage. It is worth noting that this strategy has a drawdown of -80 points which is very high and it may be better following other less volatile strategies. The big positive attribute of this strategy is its close to 5% yield after 4 years and over 2,000 real bets since it was researched and shared. That shows it is a true value trend.

This draw strategy made a solid +21.3 points profit in 2024. The creator, Maxi, is famous on our site for his draw strategies which he is an expert on. It has a 9% yield and low drawdown of just -33 for a draw strategy. It looks for weak home favourites in matches where goals are not expected, and the home team has had no draws at home in the medium term. This is a good strategy to add to your portfolio.

 5^th in 2023 and 5^th again in 2024. Another draw backing strategy makes the profit top 10. This time looking for teams where the draw odds are on the lower side, but both teams have been scoring in recent games. We are expecting that if one team scores then the other team has the form to equalize and we can expect 1-1 and 2-2 draws.

 8^th in 2023 and 6^th in 2024. +7.1 units profit in 2024. The strategy is another home bet strategy. This is also an against the trend style strategy. It backs home teams that have not won in terms of very short-term form when they are playing an away team that has not lost in their very recent form. It also looks for home teams in a very narrow band of odds. It is possible that there may be some very limited overlapping between this strategy and the Contend UD strategy, but due to their filters it is likely that both strategies will produce a lot of separate picks. So it is okay to follow both of these strategies at the same time. The big differences between these two strategies is that Home King is looking at the very recent form of both the home and away team and limiting that to a narrow band of home win odds, whereas the previous Contend UD only looks at the home team medium term form with a much a wider range of home win odds. An aspect that both of these strategies have is that they are against the trend style in their core logic. We again see that to beat the market we must think in a different way to the general public. Another plus point of this strategy is that its winning and losing months seem much more evenly spread out. It has a decent 4.32% yield after 2,043 bets. Those are very strong numbers that we can have true confidence in. The drawdown is high at -68, so it has more volatility than the previous Contend UD strategy.

Profits No.7 Home by GasPanic

This is a new entry in 2024, making +46 units profit in 2024. It has the exact same filters as Contend UD, but uses more leagues which give it 48 picks per month instead of Contend UD’s 27 picks. It is worth noting that it hit a high of +82 points profit in August 2023, which it then lost over the next 12 months going down to 15 points in July 2024, and then having a smooth profit journey back up to +79.90 points it has now. It also has a large drawdown of -72 units. It could just be a sign of the large variance we should accept with low win rate strategies as their bet volume grows. It will be an interesting race to see if it can outperform Contend UD in 2025 and make another +80 points of profit, or will it again go up and down like a roller coaster. The large drawdown is a worry, but this version of Contend UD with more leagues in it will be interesting to track.

Profits No.8 Awful Home Team – All Leagues (2022-10-25) 111 of 111 leagues by twsystem1bm

This is yet another variant of Contend UD. This time it tries to find a way to apply the filters to all 111 leagues in the database and to find a truly global trend in football. To do this, it reduces the odds range used and changes the loss filters slightly. It made +46 points profit in 2024 with only a -20 drawdown since it was shared in October 2022. Its All Results drawdown is -55 units, but only a -20 drawdown in 2 years is encouraging. It only has 23 picks per month, so it actually finds fewer picks than Contend UD itself. Since it uses more leagues than the original, both versions can be followed.

Profits No.9 Big vs Good – Top Leagues by Maxi

Another good draw strategy from Maxi. +8 points profit in 2024. It was shared in 2019 and had flat results for 2 years but has been impressive since 2022. It backs the draw in matches where there is a home favorite with strong home form this season hovering around evens to win versus an away team with good away form this season, thus the name “big v good”.

Profits No.10 Golden6.6 – Draws are in late 2.0 by Betaminic based on a strategy by Maxi

This strategy made most of its 73 points of profit in its first year when it reached +61 in 12 months and has been quite flat since then with just +2 points profit in 2024. It has an impressive 9% yield and it is possible it could have another strong year at some point, or even provide good results if duplicated and tweaked for 2025 with the freshest data. But +8% yield from 909 bets Since Shared suggest it is a real value trend.

 Colossus 01 Home Dog was 2^nd on the yields ranking for the best strategies for 2024 and is a very unusual strategy in that it has been heavily filtered down to the point where its all results bet data only has 263 bets from 12 years. Usually, we would worry that this is over filtering and the data not enough to be meaningful, but this strategy has continued to defy expectations and produced high yields in the 6 years since it was shared in Aug 2018. This strategy first appeared in the book Winning Betting Systems by Tom Whitaker which had a set of 21 strategies called the Colossus 21. An updated version of this strategy was shared called 2023 Colossus 01 Home Dog V2 All Leagues where similar filters were applied to all 111 leagues in the database. That strategy is also making profit with a high yield of 10% but only made 19^th place in the ranking by yields. It still only produces 6 picks per month, but more than the original strategy, which has found a very specific vein of value in the market. Both of those strategies are worth consideration to add into your portfolio since they have slightly different filters.

 TOM WHITAKER BSG 09 Very Poor Home by user twsystem1bm has been number 1 or 2 in the yield rankings for the past 3 years. It has settings very similar to Contend UD, the number one ranked strategy by profit. The difference is that this strategy cuts out very strong odds-on home prices and also uses fewer leagues. The yield of +20% after 258 bets is very impressive. The drawdown is -33 in its All Results period and has a decent win rate of 40%. The profit graph looks like it is moving upwards in jumps and then flat periods.

 Yield No.3:  20.41% Yield Tipstar 203 Away Wins (Tipstar)

 Tipstar 203 Away Wins is a new entry in the top yields rankings. It was shared 6 months ago in August 2024, but has already cleared 200 bets thanks to high volume of 40 picks per month on average. It has kept an impressive 20% ROI during that time.  It has an All Results drawdown of -37 units. The creator, Tipstar, has many other shared strategies on the Public Strategies page that can be found by searching by name “Tipstar”. This really shows how experienced and how deeply this user has gone through the database to research a variety of trends. This strategy backs the away team when they are not odds on favourites, but also not hopeless underdogs. It looks for matches where the home team has conceded multiple goals in recent games but also scored itself while not winning. These statistics seem to puh the away team price into value and we get the interesting yields in the recent results. If this strategy keeps on in the same trend, then it could be breaking into the top 10 profit ranks next year as well as the yield and become a popular strategy alongside Contend UD.

This draw strategy comes in fourth with a 18.53% yield after 278 bets. It backs the draw when two strong teams are meeting each other, with the home team being as stronger in many cases on season form. It has had picks from fixtures like PSV v Feyenoord, Liverpool v Manchester City and Napoli v Atalanta. The logic behind it makes footballing sense. It has an All Results drawdown of -41 units.

 This strategy is another variation on the home team with poor recent home form against the trend concept that Contend UD has. But this strategy changes the odds band and tries to focus on higher odds matches. It also has a different league selection. With high Since Shared yields of 18% it only has a -23 points drawdown. That is quite low for a 30% win rate strategy. Its All Results drawdown is still just -27 points from a 29% win rate. Interestingly, this user has left out April from the months that it places bets. April is not the last month of the European seasons, but the penultimate month. Do results tend to go off trend in that month? This user obviously feels so.

 Yield No.6: TOM WHITAKER HD4 Very Poor Home part 1 by TomW

Despite the name, there is no part 2 for this strategy. This is another version of Contend UD with the leagues and odds ranges edited. This version focusses on odds on home favourites. So here we have matches where the home team has not won for quite a few games and the pressure is building and then they finally meet an opponent that everyone really expects them to beat, despite their very poor form in the medium term.  This focus on very particulate matches leads to only 2 picks per month on average. Similar to the No.1 yielding Colossus 01 Home Dog, this strategy also aims for a very small slice of a market trend, but with very high yields coming from it. Its profit graph has been a fairly smooth upward trend and is worth considering adding to your portfolio. It is likely to have similar picks to Contend UD, but with different league selections, a few unique ones could come out, and it may be a strategy to consider higher stakes on due to its good performance. This strategy was shared in August 2021 and has taken 3.5 years to clear the 100 bet mark to appear in the yield rankings.

Yield No.7: New Contender by freeindeed

This strategy is another variation of Contend UD. This time the user has left out July and August from the betting months, and chosen different leagues, but otherwise kept the same filters as the original Contend UD. Contend UD made 28 units profit in the same since shared 6-month period that this strategy made +15 units profit. So Contend UD still seems the better choice between these two.

Yield No.8: TOM WHITAKER BSG 09 Very Poor Home (Updated 2021-4-30) by twsystem1bm

This is another variation of Contend UD from April 2021. This time very low odds on favourites are excluded. The leagues used are much reduced and only 5 picks are generated on average per month.

Yield No.9: Contend UD 1.3 by imgrigor

This is yet another variation of Contend UD, but possibly one that does actually improve on it. The description reads “Update: I tweaked my “Contend UD” twice to further minimize Maximum Drawdown (MDD) while maximizing units won by” excluding higher odds. “While there are some higher odd wins, I don’t believe there are enough to justify the risk.” This version also uses more leagues than the original and gets 32 picks per month instead of 27. A very encouraging point is that it had a 13.35% ROI from a 38% win rate in the Since Shared period, but the All Results show 13.26% ROI from a higher 39% win rate. So the Since Shared results LOST more than the historical trend did but made MORE yield. It also reduces the All Results Maximum Drawdown from Contend UD’s -38 to a much nicer -32. This is definitely going to compete with Contend UD for top spot, and you could justify following both strategies since Contend UD 1.3 uses slightly different leagues and some unique picks may be generated. This strategy was shared in October 2024, and is relatively new, but next year it will have almost another 400 bets under its belt, so it is definitely one to keep an eye on or even start following straight away.

 Yield No.10: A 8 by bere02  

Made by the same user who made the draw strategy A 9 which got Yields No.4. This A 8 strategy is also a draw strategy. While A 9 looked for matches between 2 strong teams where the home team could be stronger, this A 8 strategy looks for matches between 2 strong teams where the away team can be slightly stronger based on season form. Both strategies have impressive yields and profit since shared and could both be included in the same portfolio as they will generate some different selections.

Max. Drawdown No.1: TOM WHITAKER BDHY Pro-Home V2 (Re-Engineered “Pro-Home ” by Louisbang) (BD100HY5 RP6 TP2) by twsystem1bm

This strategy is from the same family of strategies that back low odds home favourites with high goal averages, such as Colossus 03 Free Scoring Favourites, Pro-home and Banker???. This version applies the filters to just 5 leagues. It was made with a method that separated the available 8 years of data into 6 and 2 year parts. The 6 year part was used for research and then the 2 year part was used to validate or test that research. The description reads “(BD100HY5 RP6 TP2) This is a re-engineered version of the shared strategy “Pro-Home” by user Louisbang. (See the YouTube video https://youtu.be/mH0w6IA479g ). League selection was leagues of +100 bets (BD100) and +5% yields (HY5) and Research Period of 6 years (RP6) and Test Period of 2 years (TP2) All 8 years showed profit. If other users are able to add their league filter and research method when sharing strategies, it could help us all get closer to the perfect combination of strategies.” The strategy had a bad run at the end of December that has dipped the yield under 3.21% it had on Dec 24th, but its key point is the low, low drawdown of just -8.38 since shared in November 2019 and also -8.38 in its All Results back to March 2012. That is a really low drawdown.

 Sayar’s Under 2.5 (A1) by User SayarKyaw backs the under 2.5 goal bet in matches where the away team is the favourite and the away team also has a good defensive record with 0-1 or 0-2 expected. Since the home team knows they are the underdogs, if they do get a goal, they will likely hang onto their 1-0 lead and play defensively, even settling for a 1-1 if the away side do equalize. This is a match with many under 2.5 goal scenarios. After 289 bets it boasts a 9% yield with just a -11.43 maximum drawdown over the past 12 years. It only made +0.72 units in 2024 from 61 picks. But 61 picks is a very small data set to judge this strategy on. The long term data suggest a high win rate and low drawdown which make it a good strategy to follow.

 This is an edited version of Colossus 05 Against the Trend Overs AL (Updated 2020-07-04). It follows more leagues and gets 20 picks per month versus the 10 of the original strategy. Dave3310 is a veteran Betaminic user and when his strategies rise to the top of the rankings they are worth paying attention to. This strategy backs the over 2.5 goals selection in matches where the home team is favorite, neither the home or away team have been involved in 3 goals or more games recently, and three goals or more coming are about 50-50 according to opening odds. In that sense it is a form of Against The Trend strategy that often does well for big data bettors. The low, low drawdown of -12.48 for All Results and -9.9 for Since Shared results are much lower than you would expect for a strategy with average odds of 2.10! It really has been a less than expected low volatility strategy.

UNDER MİN 2 YENİ STRATEJİ by User GrandEkinoks is an under 2.5 goals backing strategy that looks to bet against the very short term trend of over 2.5 goals in a match that is expected to have under 2.5 goals. This simple but effective strategy has a drawdown of just -13.36 that came in its Since Shared period. This is very low for a 57% win rate strategy. This strategy was also in the top 10 low drawdowns in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and has kept its place.

This strategy has so many awards it surely should be one of the first ones on anyone’s list.  e2 backs the favourite, usually the home team, when they are not odds on but have above average home form against an away team that is not a superpower. The low win rate of 36% can be a bit tough to follow for some, but the results make it a strategy to be considered very seriously. In its Since Shared history we can see it had a terrible run of 8 out of 9 months losing from December 2023 to July 2024, but then went on a 5 month consecutive winning run. This really highlights the fact that you have to plan to follow strategies for a long period such as 1 year to really give it a chance to express its trend. With 27 picks per month on average, even 10 months is only 270 bets, which is not really enough to judge a strategy and we can still be affected by short term variance. Choosing good strategies based on solid data and then following them long term for a pre-planned period is key to success in this kind of value betting.

This is an against the trend strategy. It goes against the crowd. It does not bet on the obvious choice looking at the recent form. But as suggested in this article by one of our users who is an ex-sportsbook employee, the public market often pushes down the odds of the obvious choices that follow the trend, meaning the unpopular bets rise in value above their fair odds. This s where we can capitalize on the opportunity and get value odds. This method has led to a stunning 9.79% yield after 1,662 bets. Colossus 01 Home Dog was third by Betaminic rating for the best strategies in 2023 and is a very unusual strategy in that it has been heavily filtered down to the point where its all results bet data only has 263 bets from 12 years. Usually, we would worry that this is over filtering and the data not enough to be meaningful, but this strategy has continued to defy expectations and produced high yields in the 6 years since it was shared in Aug 2018. This strategy first appeared in the book Winning Betting Systems by Tom Whitaker which had a set of 21 strategies called the Colossus 21. An updated version of this strategy was shared called 2023 Colossus 01 Home Dog V2 All Leagues where similar filters were applied to all 111 leagues in the database. Dave3310 is a veteran Betaminic user and when his strategies rise to the top of the rankings they are worth paying attention to. This strategy backs the over 2.5 goals selection in matches where the home team is favorite, neither the home or away team have been involved in 3 goals or more games recently, and three goals or more goals coming are about 50-50 according to opening odds. In that sense it is a form of Against The Trend strategy that often does well for big data bettors. The low, low drawdown of -12.48 for All Results and -9.9 for Since Shared results are much lower than you would expect for a strategy with average odds of 2.10! It really has been a less than expected volatility strategy.

We are expecting that if one team scores then the other team has the form to equalize and we can expect 1-1 and 2-2 draws.  The +3.83% yield after 2,234 is really significant and shows that big data betting works. The -41.24 drawdown in both All Results and Since Shared makes this a strategy that can easily be followed with a 100 unit bank. The only negative point is that no new profit has been added since a July 16th 2023 high when it hit profit of 85.49 units profit. It has probably had about 500 bets during that period with no new profit. While this is a disappointing 18 months, it does show that some strategies that do work and do make profit long term can still have long losing or flat runs where we just have to stay committed to the strategies we believe the underlying trend data of.

 Not home on. This home team backing strategy was shared in August 2020 and has been running for over four and a half years. It was 10^th in profit rankings last year and has moved to 3^rd this year making +8.75 units in 2024. It has made +93 points profit since August 2020 after 2,111 bets with a 4.45% yield. It basically backs underdogs at home with poor recent form when they play an away team that isn’t a super strong favourite in terms of long term away form. This ends up with betting on higher than normal home odds and can have longer losing runs as a result of natural variance. Its low 28% win rate gives it a lower hit rate than draw betting. This strategy produces an average of 36 bets per month which is an easy amount to manage. It is worth noting that this strategy has a drawdown of -80 points which is very high and it may be better following other less volatile strategies. The big positive attribute of this strategy is its close to 5% yield after 4 years and over 2,000 real bets since it was researched and shared. That shows it is a true value trend.

Besides the large drawdown, another negative point is that no new profit has been added since an October 31^st 2021 high when it hit profit of 110 units profit that all occurred within the first 15 months of being researched. It has probably had about 1,800 bets during that period with no new profit. While this is a disappointing 38 months, it does show that some strategies that do work and do make profit long term can still have long losing or flat runs. This also shows that there are some strategies that work long term without their data being refreshed, such as Contend UD and OVER 2. but some strategies work well in the first few years after being researched, but as the seasons, teams, players and managers change, then what worked in 2020/21 based on 8 years of data from 2012-2020 may not work in 2022-2024. While this does not mean that big data betting does not work, it rather shows us that some trends are stronger and longer lasting like Contend UD, and other trends can lose their edge from season to season as the characteristics of those leagues change. Those strategies may need refreshing each season, and also it is worth coming back to the Betamin Builder database at the start of each season and making new strategies based on the recent seasons, or even to re-research strategies mid-season where we can use the previous season as research data and the first month or two of the new season as test period data.

 This is a new entry in 2024, making +46 units profit in 2024. It has the exact same filters as Contend UD, but uses more leagues which give it 48 picks per month instead of Contend UD’s 27 picks. It is worth noting that it hit a high of +82 points profit in August 2023, which it then lost over the next 12 months going down to 15 points in July 2024, and then having a smooth profit journey back up to +79.90 points it has now. It also has a large drawdown of -72 units. It could just be a sign of the large variance we should accept with low win rate strategies as their bet volume grows.

The profit graph for this strategy over its 2,073 real bets since shared is very interesting and really demonstrates the key issues with this kind of value betting. In general, we say that the longer you follow a strategy, the more likely you are to get results similar to the long term trend. As a rule of thumb, following a strategy for at least 1000 bets is a good objective. Giving up on strategies if they make a few months of losses despite not even clearing 500 bets is an emotional reaction that will decrease your chances of success if you don’t follow the plan you originally created. For example, in the Home strategy that was researched and shared in November 2021, its first 250 bets produced losses with 5 months of a steady negative trend. Most bettors would give up at that point thinking that this style of betting does not work, but after 10 months and 500 bets it has made it to +20 units profit with a 4% yield. At that point we would say that this is a working strategy. It just needed the right bank management and firm 1000 bet plan to make it through losing runs and have a chance to express its originally researched trend. Another 500 bets later, at the 1000 bet mark it hit +65 units profit bets total with 6.50% yield. Most bettors would be very happy with a 6.5% yield. Professional gamblers often say that 5% ROI is their objective for the year to call it a good one. The following 1000 bets over the next 20 months however, add only 10 units of profit to the total, meaning a 1% yield for that period. While definitely disappointing, the strategy did still produce profit from a sportsbook where -4% is the average long term loss from the Pinnacle margin. Also, anyone starting to follow this strategy at its peak of +82 in October 2023 would have experienced a -68 unit loss over the next 350 bets in 7 months to July 2024. That user might think this strategy does not work at that point, but the long term data shows it does, and generally, by following for a period of 1000 bets, we have the best chance of seeing that trend show itself. So while big data betting does work, we cannot control the random variance of results. We need to have bank management plans to survive statistically expected drawdowns over the next 1000 bets for this strategy. We can do that by looking at the maximum drawdown. This s where we can capitalize on the opportunity and get value odds. This method has led to a stunning 9.79% yield after 1,662 bets. That is a very significant amount of bet data to get confidence from. It is over the 1,000 bet mark. Its maximum drawdown is only -37.96 points across all its All Results history of 3,767 bets since March 2012. It has a 36% win rate and average odds of 3.55 which means it needs discipline to follow since more than 50% of bets will be losers. You really have to understand the meaning of value betting to be able to follow this strategy. Despite a win rate of 36%, the odds being offered on these matches are equivalent to a win rate lower than 36%, so the longer we keep betting on this trend, the more chance we will get results similar to the long-term trend of +9.79% ROI. If we look at the monthly P/L we can see there are winning and losing months, sometimes 4 months of flat results and then a few big profit months. This really shows the need for discipline with value betting. You need to make a plan to follow this strategy long term. If you follow it for 25 bets, it is pure luck if you will make a profit or not. This strategy has the exact same filters as Draw, both teams scored by McMcDonald but uses different leagues. The results show a higher yield of 4.77% to the original’s 3.81%. While we don’t know how the original user chose their leagues, but TW Score Draw does explain itself in the description: “Draw, both teams scored McMcDonald 10% yield leagues 04/01/2019 RP L+10Y (leagues with +10% yield) 2088 25 35% 3.33 -21.21 369.87 17.71% 04/01/2019 TP1 L+10Y (leagues with +10% yield) 406 18 32% 3.32 -27.64 23.25 5.73% 04/01/2019 AP L+10Y (leagues with +10% yield) 2850 34 34% 3.33 -27.64 403.25 14.15% TP2 L+10Y (leagues with +10% yield) 356 35 31% 3.31 -20.51 10.13 2.85%”

Which unpacked means, it selected leagues with 10% yield or more in each data set.

This strategy was shared on August 27^th 2021, but was researched privately on January 4^th 2019. It had 7 years of data to use at that time. It split that into 5 years of Research Period data (RP), and 2 x 1 year of Test Period (TP) data. It also shows the All Period (AP) data together. We have added the results since January 4^th 2019 to the table or comparison.

It is very encouraging to see that the yields suggested in the test periods was achieved in the New Data 2019-2025 as the strategy kept running. It goes to show that the methodology of splitting data into Research Period and Test Periods can help when creating your own strategies. Since this strategy was shared publicly in August 2021, it has had 1,418 bets, but we can see that it was actually researched in January 2019 and has had 2,386 bets since then with a 5.06% yield. That 2,386 bets would actually make this strategy the No.1 ranking strategy for Big Data, but since we use the Since Shared data, it will remain at No.7 and have to work its way higher.

This strategy stands out as possibly the better version of the two and worth considering for your set.

 Vitória do mandante com dos alta is a variation of the core filters of Contend UD, but the filters are different enough for it to count as a separate strategy. This user has reduced the odds range being covered and also changed the leagues being selected from the 111-league database. In this way, duplicating and changing the filters of existing public strategies is a good way to get used to the Betamin Builder and also sometimes find improved versions of existing strategies. This edited version has a slightly lower yield of +8.61% with a lower drawdown of -33. It made +14 units of profit in 2024 compared to Contend UD’s +37 units profit. It did not have the long losing run at the start of 2024 that Contend UD had though. This strategy and Contend UD are different enough to both be followed. For value betting, it is important to follow a trend for 500-1,000 bets to give it the best chance to reproduce its trend. When you make a plan to follow a strategy, plan to follow it for a number of bets, not a time period.

Big Data No.9: away wins by Bastian

This strategy backs away underdog teams that have had poor recent form. In that sense it is an Against the Trend strategy. It focusses on just 9 leagues.

The filters are simple and the logic is purely that the away team form and odds look bad on paper, so the public market will be staying away from this selection, and unpopular selections tend to rise about their fair value as the other selections get overbet on. The +5.32% yield after 1,293 bets is very good, but unfortunately, it is another strategy whose profits peaked 2.5 years after being shared with +91 units from 600 bets (15% ROI) and has lost -23 units in the following 2 years and 400 bets to its current total of +68 units after 1,293 bets, but that is still +5.32% yield which would be a good achievement for many people after that volume of bets. Here it is important to realise that the +15% yield at its peak after 600 bets should really alert to us to the fact that it had a period of positive variance, and that the lack of new profit after that is not really an indication that the strategy has stopped working, just that the previous high was after unusually high positive variance. As we get more bets and a higher volume of total bets, the period of high positive variance gets diluted into the mass of bets and the overall yield goes back to the sustainably reasonable levels of 5%. It may be laboring the point, but we have to follow strategies for 1000 bet periods to give them a real chance to repeat their trends. Try to judge a strategy over its last 1000 bets, not its last 12 months.

Big Data No.10: nul x a by nirnouta50

This draw strategy looks for weak home favorites in matches where goals are not expected and then backs the draw. It has a decent 5.78% yield after 1,238 bets and just a -41 unit drawdown. It achieved +71 units profit after 1000 bets (7.1% ROI) by July 2024, but has not added any new profit in the 240 bets since then. This makes the profit graph look like it has “stopped working” since July 2024, but again, this is often not the case and just the nature of long term big data betting. Every month will not be profitable, but over a 1000 bet period, we would expect to see profit.

The Top 18 Strategies for 2025

There are a lot of good strategies highlighted in this article, and it can be hard to know which ones to follow. We have condensed them down into a final overall ranking of which strategies have performed the best over multiple categories. The filters and core concepts behind each of these strategies also provide an interesting starting point for future research and development of even better strategies for users who like to research their own private strategies. We usually do a top 10, but this time we have a top 18. The top strategy is of course Contend UD since it is so high in multiple categories. 9 of the top 10 strategies all have low drawdowns of 16 or less which should make them easy to follow for most bettors and staking plans. Contend UD is the exception with a MMD of -38. Strategy No.11 Tipstar 203 Away Wins also has a drawdown of -37. The last 7 strategies are all draw strategies. Draw strategies tend to have higher drawdowns and these all have MDDS between -36 to -44. For users looking for as low a drawdown as possible, then just using the first 10 strategies is an option.

It does have a drawdown of -79.66. If we bet 1 unit per pick, then a 100 unit bank would have been enough for this set, but conservative bettors might even use a 150 or 200 unit bank. Whitaker Staking ELSx4/NB4000, Percentage Staking 1% and Target Profit 2% Staking or even more conservative settings are also good staking plans to consider for this set.
